Dear people of the internet,
|
I've never been good with introductions. And I may end up rewriting this letter over and over again, never to be satisfied. But we have to start sometime or else it never begins, so I say to you, "Hello." I'm Patrick. The family name is Pu, which sounds like "Pooh" or "poo". Yes, I was teased as a child because of such. I've gotten over it. Or at least I think I have.
The name "define Patism" came about years ago when I started college at Cal Poly Pomona back in 1998. It was during a period in my life where I didn't want to be defined one-dimensionally; where I didn't want not to be known simply by a profession, but as a person as a whole. And yet there are things about me, to this very day, that I do not understand about myself. So while there is a part of me I can define to you, the whole of who I am is also defined by the reflection of those outside looking in. Yes, this website these days is a platform for me to present my photographic works as a freelance generalist photographer (one that doesn't focus on a specific genre). My hope is that this will also become a stepping stone to connect with people, whether it be a neighbor or someone from around the world... A small gesture to open up the typical social bubble. I'd love to work with you as a photographer, but please don't hesitate to contact me, even if it's just to say hello. The world is a large place, but that doesn't mean we have to be strangers.
